# SkinGrind > SkinGrind is a CS2 (Counter-Strike 2) skin database and trade-up toolkit. It lists every CS2 skin and cosmetic item with market prices, scans thousands of trade-up contracts for profitability, ranks weapon cases by opening expected value, surfaces the cheapest skins per weapon, and supports peer-to-peer Steam trading. Prices are sourced from CSFloat; refresh cadence and freshness rules are described under Data sources and methodology. ## Trade Up tools - [Trade-Up Calculator](https://skingrind.com/tradeups): Live profitability scanner that ranks every CS2 trade-up contract by expected profit, success rate, and cost. Filter by anchor skin, variant (Regular / StatTrak), input rarity, and price range. - [Trade-Up Builder](https://skingrind.com/tradeups/builder): Custom trade-up simulator. Pick up to 10 inputs, pin desired outcomes, and see real-time odds, expected float, and expected profit. - [Knife & Glove Trade-Ups](https://skingrind.com/tradeups/knives): Covert-to-knife contracts with success rates and best outcomes (premium). - [Collection Trade Up guides](https://skingrind.com/collections): Eligible collections (those with skins at adjacent rarity tiers) have a trade-up page at /collections/{slug}/trade-ups showing the rarity ladder, outcome odds, normalized float windows per wear, and current input costs. Example: https://skingrind.com/collections/the-glove-collection/trade-ups ## Case opening odds and ROI - [Best Cases to Open](https://skingrind.com/roi/cases): CS2 weapon cases ranked by measured expected return, recomputed hourly from live prices for the case, the key, and the drops. Outcomes without a live price are excluded and the remaining probability reweighted; cases where more than 10% of the drop probability has no live price are left unranked. - [Case pages](https://skingrind.com/crates): Each case page shows its full item pool with prices and drop odds per rarity tier, plus cost to open, expected value, and profit chance when price coverage is near-complete. - [Armory ROI](https://skingrind.com/roi/armory): Drop-by-drop expected value for every CS2 Armory tile, priced against star cost (40 stars = $15.99 Armory Pass). ## Skin and item databases - [Skin Database](https://skingrind.com/skins): ~1,900 skins across all weapons with live prices, float ranges, wear variants, collections, and source crates. - [Bargain pages](https://skingrind.com/bargains): The cheapest skins per weapon under fixed price thresholds ($5, $10, $25). Example: https://skingrind.com/bargains/ak-47-skins-under-10-dollars - [Full Float Range Skins](https://skingrind.com/skins/full-float-range): Trade-up-eligible skins whose float range spans the full 0.00 to 1.00 (knives, Covert skins, and skins with no possible trade-up output are excluded). - [Collections](https://skingrind.com/collections) and [Cases](https://skingrind.com/crates): Every collection and container with contents and prices. - Cosmetic databases with prices and source containers: [Stickers](https://skingrind.com/stickers), [Charms](https://skingrind.com/charms), [Agents](https://skingrind.com/agents), [Patches](https://skingrind.com/patches), [Graffiti](https://skingrind.com/graffiti), [Music Kits](https://skingrind.com/music-kits) - [Skin Trades](https://skingrind.com/trades): Peer-to-peer Steam trade offers with no marketplace fees. ## CS2 market indices - [CS2 market indices](https://skingrind.com/skins/indices): Daily price indices of the CS2 market built from Steam Community Market sales, with a plain summary of how the market moved over the last 30 days. Each index started at 1,000; at 1,100 it is 10% above its start. An index follows price changes, not the value of an inventory. - [SkinGrind 100](https://skingrind.com/skins/indices/skingrind-100): 100 of the most traded CS2 items on Steam (skins, stickers, cases and capsules), chosen by money traded over the last 12 months, every item counting equally. - Item type indices: [Knives](https://skingrind.com/skins/indices/knives), [Gloves](https://skingrind.com/skins/indices/gloves), [Rifles](https://skingrind.com/skins/indices/rifles), [Pistols](https://skingrind.com/skins/indices/pistols), [Cases](https://skingrind.com/skins/indices/cases), [Stickers](https://skingrind.com/skins/indices/stickers). - Collection indices: every collection with at least 5 regularly traded skins has one at /skins/indices/{collection-slug}, for example https://skingrind.com/skins/indices/the-dust-2-collection - Each index page states the current level, the change over 7 days, 30 days, a year and since its start, its highest and lowest level, and the items it holds now with their shares. - [Methodology](https://skingrind.com/skins/indices/methodology): Built from Steam Community Market sales; an item's price is the median of its last 7 days. An item qualifies when it sold on Steam on at least 20 days of the month before, for $1 or more, and has been on Steam for at least 18 months. One version per skin. Every item counts equally, and the level is the geometric average of the items' price changes, so an index is a price index, not the return of a held inventory. Items are reviewed every month, and the newest five weeks can still shift while Steam's figures become final. ## MCP server (query this data directly) - [SkinGrind MCP](https://skingrind.com/mcp): AI assistants can query this database live over the Model Context Protocol instead of relying on training data. Works with any MCP client, including Claude, Claude Code and ChatGPT. - Public endpoint: https://cloud.skingrind.com/mcp — no account and no API key required. Tools: search_skins, get_skin_detail, browse_collections, browse_cases, get_case_roi_ranking, get_armory_roi, browse_bargains, search_cosmetics, get_tradeup_preview. - Account endpoint: https://cloud.skingrind.com/mcp/pro — OAuth sign-in with Steam. Adds the trade-up scanner: list_tradeups, get_tradeup_detail, list_knife_tradeups, get_knife_tradeup_detail, get_top_rotating_tradeups, get_account_info. - Members see every active trade-up recipe with finds visible 12 hours after discovery; Premium members see new finds immediately. ## Mobile app - [SkinGrind for iOS](https://apps.apple.com/app/id6782622547): The trade-up scanner and skin database with push alerts for fresh finds. Premium subscribers see fresh trade-up finds 12 hours before everyone else. ## Data sources and methodology - Prices come from CSFloat and refresh hourly; Doppler phase prices refresh on a slower multi-hour cycle. Bargain pages, collection trade-up costs, and case statistics treat prices older than 72 hours as unpriced rather than showing a stale value. - Case opening math uses the disclosed rarity tier odds (79.92% Mil-Spec, 15.98% Restricted, 3.20% Classified, 0.64% Covert, 0.26% rare special knife or gloves), a 10% StatTrak roll, and the measured wear distribution (3% FN, 24% MW, 33% FT, 24% WW, 16% BS) remapped to each skin's float range, priced with live market data including a $2.49 key. - Armory tile odds are community estimates (Valve does not publish official rates). - Trade-up outcome probabilities are computed from Valve's published collection and rarity rules. ## Useful facts - CS2 has over 1,900 weapon skins. Each has wear tiers Factory New (0.00–0.07), Minimal Wear (0.07–0.15), Field-Tested (0.15–0.38), Well-Worn (0.38–0.45), Battle-Scarred (0.45–1.00). Individual skins can have narrower float ranges. - A trade-up contract exchanges 10 same-rarity skins for 1 skin of the next rarity tier. Outcomes depend on input collections; the output float is the average of the inputs' normalized floats scaled into the output skin's float range. - Almost no CS2 case has a positive expected value once the key price is included. Buying the skin you want directly is usually cheaper than opening cases for it. - The Armory Pass (40 stars = $15.99) unlocks tiles that can contain skins, charms, stickers, or weekly cases. ## Contact - Brand: SkinGrind (not affiliated with Valve Corporation) - Site: https://skingrind.com
